Although ChatGPT can write sale copy, poems, articles, and promotion emails, its limitations can result in incorrect responses. And only experienced marketers can detect those issues, mastering ChatGPT and its prompts to get the best responses.
I've been using ChatGPT for greater efficiency and time savings in my marketing work. While writing an article on Airlift, a once-prominent startup in Pakistan that failed due to a lack of funding and unsuccessful fundraising attempts, I asked ChatGPT if it was still functional, but the response wasn't definitive.
"Is Airlift still working?"
"As an AI language model, I don't have access to real-time information or updates on the operations of Airlift. However, based on my knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, Airlift was still operating. It's best to check their website or social media pages for the latest information on their operations."
Meanwhile, when I asked ChatGPT to draft an email to pitch my English course to potential clients, it quickly gave me a lengthy message. However, the issue was that ChatGPT made up the course details and provided incorrect information. Moreover, the tone of the message lacked empathy and failed to establish a connection with readers. Consequently, sending that email would significantly decrease the likelihood of selling my course and even damage the customers' trust.
This is the critical problem that we - marketers must address when using ChatGPT to support our work: Ensuring accuracy and connection with the target audience.

Do You Know ChatGPT Can Lie?
To master ChatGPT, it's crucial to understand how ChatGPT works and its possibilities for giving inaccurate or misleading information. First, let's get into what ChatGPT exactly is and how it works.
How ChatGPT works?
ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is a powerful app that leverages the GPT-3 language model to provide a range of services, such as writing copy, answering questions, drafting emails, holding conversations, translating natural language to code, and more. By processing your natural language prompts, ChatGPT uses its predictive capabilities to generate the most plausible responses.
GPT-3 was trained on a massive dataset of roughly 500 billion tokens, derived from books, articles, and other human-written documents from various topics, styles, and genres, including scraped content from the open internet.
As a result, ChatGPT has access to an incredible wealth of human knowledge, allowing it to deliver impressively accurate responses. Mastering ChatGPT enables you to utilize that extensive database without spending much time on research.
How ChatGPT lies?
The University of Science and Technology in Wrocław, Poland, has released a paper that evaluates OpenAI's ChatGPT performance on various natural language processing (NLP) machine learning benchmarks. The result shows that ChatGPT's performance was consistently lower than other top AI models across all 25 benchmarks.
Specialized models scored 73.7% on average, while ChatGPT scored only 56.6%. ChatGPT struggled most with tasks related to subjective emotional perception and individual interpretation of content. ChatGPT's average quality increases to 69.7%, excluding the eight emotion-related tasks, while other methods rise to 80%. Adding more examples in the prompt can sometimes improve ChatGPT by a few percentage points.
Carl T. Bergstrom, a University of Washington professor, tested ChatGPT's ability to create an article about himself, but the bot got his job title and referenced awards wrong. In another instance, ChatGPT was asked for a list of references on digital epidemiology but provided a list of entirely fabricated sources. Due to the high rate of incorrect or irrelevant answers, Stack Overflow has temporarily banned answers generated by ChatGPT.
Why does ChatGPT lies?
Back to my question, "Is Airlift still working?". It's not a surprise that ChatGPT was unable to provide an exact answer to the question of whether it's still working or not. Because it is an artificial intelligence language model that can only provide responses based on the data it was trained on.
Similarly, ChatGPT generated information about my course automatically as it lacked sufficient information to create the complete email that I asked for. To supplement itself, ChatGPT has drawn from its existing data system. Its responses are limited to the information available in its training data.
Despite its increased accuracy, ChatGPT's knowledge is still confined to data from 2021. Therefore, ChatGPT cannot provide real-time updates on the current status of a company or technology. As a marketer, it's important to remember the limitations of using ChatGPT and verify information obtained through other sources.
How To Master ChatGPT And ChatGPT Prompts?
As stated above, ChatGPT has limitations like many other AI models. Due to the lack of data or biases in the training data, the model's results may not always be reliable. While ChatGPT's responses can seem authoritative, it's essential to understand the scope of its knowledge to avoid incorrect or misleading answers.
Additionally, it's important to note that ChatGPT has certain boundaries. It's not appropriate to ask discriminatory, offensive, or illegal questions. The bot will decline to answer questions that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory or hateful. If you want to get the best possible output from ChatGPT, there are a few things you can do to master the tool:
Give more information and context
For ChatGPT to provide the most accurate results that align with your expectations, it's crucial to provide enough information and context. Get better outputs by outlining specific requirements such as the tone of voice, style, genre, preferred word usage, paragraph length, etc. The more detailed and precise the prompts, the better the outcome.
Are you curious how I make ChatGPT give a more comprehensive and precise sale email about my English course? Don't hold back from providing all the relevant information about your products and services, as ChatGPT can generate vast data with each prompt.
Besides, I asked ChatGPT to include a funny story in the email to create a connection and interest for my customers: "Rewrite the email above. Now, include a funny story about an employee who wanted to improve his English in search of a promotion opportunity in his career." The result was impressive, as ChatGPT responded much better than the first one.
Use proper prompts
It's essential to use simple and straightforward phrasing that ChatGPT can easily understand to get accurate responses. To get more detailed information from ChatGPT, try asking it with more detailed ChatGPT prompts. It's recommended to use minimal text, avoid repetition or duplicate instructions, and focus on specific questions or tasks. Remember, ChatGPT's performance relies heavily on the quality of the prompts entered.
Another helpful tip is to break up your question into simpler parts or ask multiple questions simultaneously. This can improve the bot's understanding of your input and lead to longer, more detailed answers. Providing more detailed input data is key to getting the most out of ChatGPT.
Always check the accuracy
Mastering ChatGPT requires taking the necessary steps to ensure that the information provided is accurate and reliable. It's crucial to double-check the chatbot's responses to identify areas that require refinement or additional training. While ChatGPT is an advanced technology, it's not immune to errors that could mislead users.
Verifying the accuracy of ChatGPT's responses is vital for avoiding misunderstandings and making informed decisions. By confirming the validity of the information provided, you can avoid being misled and optimize your experience with this innovative chatbot.
As a marketer, it's important not to misuse ChatGPT's features. Always use your judgment and remain truthful to your audience. Whenever you receive responses from ChatGPT, the first thing you should do is review and edit them. It will ensure that the information you provide your customers is accurate and genuine. This approach is key to retaining customers.
Let ChatGPT be your writing assistant
ChatGPT can enhance your performance, but don't let it replace you entirely. ChatGPT can save you a lot of time as a writing assistant, particularly during the initial stages of idea development. Be a marketer before mastering ChatGPT. You should clearly understand what you are looking for, how ChatGPT responds, and how to manage the output.
Despite having access to a vast source of information, ChatGPT still lacks the ability to empathize and express attitudes and emotions. Only humans have those things. Therefore, try adding your ideas and attitude to ChatGPT prompts and ChatGPT responses. Make your content unique while doing better branding. This approach effectively differentiates your brand from the competition while delivering added value to your customers.
How do I make my works unique? Talking about my marketing email, after many inputs and outputs, I received the best results that were close to my expectation. However, that's not enough. Checking, editing, and adding more value - all to create actual sales. Based on the bone that ChatGPT built, I used my words to create connections and bring accurate information to my customers. That is how I integrate ChatGPT as my writing assistant.
Update ChatGPT's database
Mastering ChatGPT can greatly improve the efficiency of gathering information and insights from pre-existing data. However, it's important to note that ChatGPT's training only goes up to 2021, which limits its ability to provide real-time information and insights on current events.
While ChatGPT can provide valuable insights and knowledge from pre-existing data, it may struggle to provide new insights, advice, and recommendations on a new phenomenon that lacks pre-existing information. Including real-time and current data in ChatGPT's sources of information can significantly enhance its relevance and timeliness.
As such, human action may be required to collect and digitize data to ensure that ChatGPT provides accurate and up-to-date information. That means consistently updating news, current information, and research is necessary for ChatGPT.
To improve ChatGPT's performance, report any incorrect or unanswered questions and provide additional information that the model hasn't learned. This feedback can help ChatGPT's developers enhance the model's database for better accuracy in the future.
Back to my question to ChatGPT:"Is Airlift still working?". After finding out that ChatGPT doesn't have enough information to provide an adequate answer, I conduct additional research to find the most recent data and update the chatbot with it. And this is how ChatGPT learns:
"Thank you for updating me on the situation. As an AI language model, I cannot access real-time information about Airlift's recent activities. However, based on your information, Airlift ceased operations in Pakistan in July 2022 due to financial difficulties and unsuccessful fundraising efforts."
This step helps ChatGPT update information and gives the most accurate answer based on the earlier data. Moreover, combining ChatGPT's existing dataset with the latest information can provide the most reliable information. This approach helps you achieve optimal work efficiency by accessing the most accurate and reliable information.
While ChatGPT is an advanced chatbot that can enhance your productivity, it's not infallible and can sometimes provide misleading information. Mastering ChatGPT involves taking the necessary steps to ensure the accuracy and reliability of its responses.
By following the right processes and using ChatGPT prompts properly, you can optimize your experience with this innovative chatbot and access the most reliable information available. Take advantage of ChatGPT's capabilities to improve productivity and achieve goals!
