Some of the cases as per our findings needed more intensive care and close observation during their inpatient-stay. The respiratory panel test (PCR) test is done to find and fix the causative organism of pneumonia. PCR is one the definitive qualitative method of test practiced among the facilities in the UAE. Once the test turned positive, the care plan changes are focused to treat the infection due to HI and related symptomatic treatment so as to minimize the severity of the condition. As the pediatric department have had witnessed one death of a 8 months of old baby transferred from our facility to Tawam hospital where the child died of sepsis with multiple organ failure and meningitis due to HI.
