Dear Julie Su,
I am writing to kindly request your help in implementing my mobile assembly design for beer kegs and compressed gas tanks, which has the potential to greatly improve workplace safety and reduce employee injuries associated with handling these containers. As a former bartender, I struggled daily with lifting and maneuvering these bulky containers, and my invention was created out of a need to address this issue. Similar to how handles and wheels have made lifting and moving bulky suitcases effortless, my design makes it easier to handle beer kegs, propane tanks, and compressed gas tanks.
Currently, OSHA warns of the potential hazards associated with handling beer kegs, and their suggested solutions, such as using two employees, "walking" the keg, or using a "clamping, rolling" device, are outdated and impractical in the beverage industry. My keg design offers a solution to these hazards. Similarly, transporting or handling compressed air tanks also presents additional hazards in addition to physical injury. Current methods involve rolling the tanks on the bottom while holding and balancing them, or using a hand truck, both of which can lead to explosion, fire, poison, and runaway reactions in case the cylinder is dropped. My product design offers a solution to these hazards as well.
I would be grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate the need for my product design to become the OSHA standard. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Respectfully,
Heather Maurier
